We have suddenly become incredibly busy with conferences. We're at GenCon 2019 August 1-4 in Indiana. Parallel event to Pax West in Seattle end of August. Full program we're running at national ATRA in Reno, NV September 14-17!
You would not believe what a whirlwind it has been since I (Hawke) returned from my honeymoon just this Monday July 22nd! Soooo much has happened at once I can't keep up with it.

GenCon 2019 - Booth 100 (Indianapolis)

And then suddenly this Thursday, things happened so fast, that now tomorrow, John Welker (VP of RPG Research) and I will be driving to Indiana to run a full table at GenCon 2019! Thanks to the kind support and donation of booth space and tickets from Zombie Orpheus Entertainment & The Fantasy Network! (Full disclosure, I've been helping the ZOE/TFN folks on and off over the years, we have a great supporting relationship).
I've never been to GenCon. John has been half a dozen times, running games, etc. over the decades.
Over 60,000 people at GenCon last year.

PAX West (Seattle)

End of August we may be Seattle running a special event parallel to Pax West, in conjunction with the wonderful folks at the DotsRPG Project. You know them from their fantabulous Braille dice.(Full disclosure, I am part of the board for dotsRPG) They just completed their 501(c)3 filing!
We're all part of such a wonderfully supportive community!

American Therapeutic Recreation Association National Conference (ATRA) (Reno)

Then September we'll be at international/national American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) Annual Professional Conference in Reno, Nevada (tickets are over $600 a person). We have been working up to sending a submission to ATRA for 15 years. First we submitted and ran single sessions about 1.5-2 hours at the local Washington State WSTRA over the past 5 years. And at the regional Pacific Northwest Therapeutic Recreation Association (PNWTRA) for a couple years. Finally we submitted 3 proposals to the national ATRA, hoping they _might_ accept just one 90 minute proposal. They liked all three, and asked if we would do a FULL DAY PROGRAM the first day of the 4 day conference! We will also be bringing the whole RPG Fleet:
So, Saturday, September 14th, 2019, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, we will be in Reno, Nevada, providing an entire hands-on workshop on all 4 role-playing game formats, and how to bring them into professional facilities for recreation therapists and other parallel health care professionals!
  • The first third of the day shoots down the myths about RPGs, and shows the supporting research.
  • The second third provides real hands-on experience with each format, and then their application for a list of different population's needs and goals, and the adaptations to make them as accessible and inclusive as possible.
  • The final third is about professional issues, getting professional training, diplomas, certifications, etc. to be a paid RPG Professional.
They have also asked that we turn all of the sessions into 60 minute webinars to be available on the ATRA site after the conference. Not as good as the hands-on workshops, but better than nothing for those that can't make the conference.
