As was warned a few weeks ago, due to lack of any security or privacy with Discord's platfor, we are moving all of our private chat to the Role-Playing Gamers Social Network (RPGSN.net). The public & patreon-special channels will remain on Discord for now.

We recently sent 3 presentation proposals for the upcoming 2019 American Therapeutic Recreation Association's annual conference.
Variations of this happen so often that I generally don't bother posting about it anymore. Typically anywhere from once per month to once per week, I encounter something in the ballpark of these negative attitudes about role-playing gamers/gaming from the inculcated myths. But this past Friday was exceptional, with 3 separate families forbidding their children!
A lot of larps are either more combat oriented or more freeform oriented. We're looking for something that is as close to a heroic, "good guys only", tabletop role-playing game, but includes moving around physically, but does not allow any physical contact, and isn't overly focused on combat. Anyone know of something actually published, with adventures, that fits these criteria? This is for atrisk and incarcerated populations.
Don't be cruel, if for no other reason than to not be cruel to people with stutters or other speech challenges, use the initialism TRPG not TTRPG. Additionally for consistency of documentation and professional language efficiency. All of RPG Research's documentation, as well as the Certified Role-Playing Game Professional documentation follow this standardized approach. Until recently, it seemed pretty standard to use TRPG, but in the last few years, for some strange reason an increasing number of people are starting to use TTRPG with 2 Ts. Why?
A brief overview of role-playing as a concept and its researched benefits.
A brief summary of role-play as a construct and its researched benefits.
Once again someone has become (or apparently was for some time) persona non grata because of some terrible words or deeds. I'd never had any awareness of this person, but have seen over the past week a LOT of threads discussing. This lead me to wondering, is there anywhere someone outside of these insular community in-groups could find information about the controversial figures in various fandoms?

Apologies for delays in responses, working feverishly on protocol documents for journal submission.
In our consideration of games research and community game offerings, we are trying to find the "right" Old West TRPG, that does not have magic or science fiction or other blended genres. Here is where we will post updates on our search.

We are all about open, peer-shared, peer-learning, collaborative, community engaged sharing of information and experiences, and our primary website is open to all. We have also setup an internal network to solve some internal organizational challenges, called the RPGSN.net, and wanted to let folks know why.
This is for all staff volunteers, but posting the link publicly just in case any staff didn't catch the email, Discord, or RPGSN posting.
We are trying to solidify the 5th slot in our Tier 1 game offerings and GM 1 training programs, and we've decided on a super hero RPG of some kind. However, nailing down which one will take a lot of evaluations. Here is where we are at so far. Any others you recommend?
The past is still very present for many. We regularly meet people in the gaming community who do not understand why we "waste" time talking about all the misconceptions of the past regarding role-playing games and gamers. This is because outside of the fandom bubble, a very large percentage of people unfortunately still believe the negative myths and stereotypes. If we don't address those issues up-front and head-on, it is literally the difference between our programs being accepted or denied.
Diversity of perspectives is the key to making the international RPG Research volunteer community and open research repository website the most helpful to everyone.
Just some quick little trivia bits that might be of interest to folks. We'll likely add to this posting over time...
Important update to the games we are offering from our level 1 Game Masters. We are removing Star Wars and replacing it with Doctor Who. This is mostly applicable to at-risk populations. For non-at-risk populations Star Wars may still be an option depending on the GM and session circumstances. Read further for more details...

Happy Holidays everyone! Thank you for your wonderful support of the non-profit 501(c)3 RPG Research this year. We have been working hard researching the effects of all RPG formats, how they impact lives, and providing real-world programs in the community applying this information and feeding that information back into the body of knowledge.
