An entry level position. Help organize, manage, and facilitate role-playing game (RPG) and related events using tabletop & live action role-playing games, drum circles, and other recreational activities at various locations including: community centers, schools, libraries, parks, public venues, conventions, and others.

*Level 1 RPG Facilitator volunteer trainee. Minimum 6 month commitment, 3 hour sessions, 1 training session per week, and one event session per week. (6-8 hours per week total).

An entry level trainee volunteer position. Help organize, manage, and facilitate role-playing game (RPG), collaborative music, and related events using tabletop & live action role-playing games, electronic RPGs, drum circles, and other recreational activities at various locations including: community centers, schools, libraries, parks, public venues, conventions, mobile (RPG Bus & RPG Trailer) locations, and others. Volunteer-level free training begins immediately.

Minimum 1 year commitment, 1 training session per week (3 hours), and two event sessions per month (4 hours per session).

Department(s): Facilitation and Events

Location(s): Varies: offices, schools, conventions, community centers, mobile facilities, and others. While most of our other positions can be trained remotely around the world, this position requires that you can be in-person at our various Washington, Oregon, Idaho, & Montana events. Most events currently take place around the Spokane, WA, and Post Falls, ID areas, though other locations may happen throughout the greater western United States.

Reports to: Senior Facilitator.

General Purpose

Help organize, manage, and facilitate RPG Therapeutics events using drum circles, role-playing games, and other activities at various locations, conventions, and other events.

*Key Tasks, Responsibilities, & Requirements*

  • Encourage, plan, schedule, and facilitate events and activities.
  • Help facilitate at least 2 sessions per month  (3-5 hours per session), usually either on Fridays or Saturdays.
  • Coordinate participant placement in rooms or at tables.
  • Set up and tear-down of activity components (drums, dice, pencils, miniatures, tables, chairs, rulebooks, computer-systems, etc.)
  • Report back to Senior Facilitator with regular planning progress reports.
  • Assist Game Masters and other Facilitators as needed, to optimize participants experience.
  • Coordinate with Player Archetypes, RPG Advocates, and others.
  • Attend either in-person or via remote access, at least one training session / administrative meeting per week (3-4 hours per session)

  • Reliable schedule compliance

Education and Training

Required:

  • Minimum 1+ years experience organizing and running recreational events.
  • Minimum 1+ years personal experience with at least one related RPG format(s). *
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to help others move tables, chairs, and books (at least 30 pounds)
  • Passionate supportive energy
  • Can-do attitude, go-getter looking for things to do to help, rather than just waiting around to be told what to do.

Optional but preferred:

  • Recreation / Event management training/certification.
  • 5+ years experience with at least one RPG format *
  • 1+ years experience with all 4 RPG formats. *

* Role-playing game (RPG) formats include: tabletop (TRPG), live-action (LRPG / Larp), electronic RPG (ERPG / CRPG), and hybrid RPGs (HRPG including solo adventure books and modules (SABM)).

Hours: Varies, minimum 1 (free) training session per week (3-4 hours per session), and minimum 1 event session per month (hours range from 3 to 4+ hours per event).

Compensation: This is an entry level volunteer position. No financial compensation. Free training.
